"Vamps"
series of etched crystal balls, 2010

A series of crystal ball portraits based on the video performances from "I think I love you but I have chosen darkness." 3-D wireframe portraits of women in the throws of transformation are etched into the crystal balls. There is currently a plethora of vampire fiction, but most of it follows the tired traditional narrative of powerful male vampire and female victim transformed by male monster lover. I am more interested in the reverse, which resonates with the Victorian definition of Vamp.
