"B-girl"
video, 9 minutes, 2011

"B-Girl" mixes manipulated documentary footage (shot by artist) of bees and wasps entering their hives with an "abstract narrative" of an adolescent girl. The girl, wearing a bee costume, walks in the woods and through a developing executive suburb whose construction is destroying the same forest. The character is always in motion. Shot over four seasons, B-Girl continues to walk, never arriving at her destination. The character begins to double, her mirror image pulling her off the two sides of the screen. The piece involves a complex negotiation among looking, being looked at and embodying. B-Girl accompanies herself on her walk in the woods.
